Woburn boys get meet record, Division 2 title

The Woburn boys’ track team set a meet record, but that didn’t automatically give them the Division 2 James Kalperis MSTCA State Relay title Saturday. The Tanners needed a good finish in the day’s final event — the 4 x 400 — to secure their second consecutive championship at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center.

Newton North girls win fourth straight

It came down to the last event, but the Newton North girls’ track team left Reggie Lewis Track Center Saturday afternoon with what it came looking for — its fourth consecutive James Kalperis MSTCA State Relays title.

Men’s basketball falls to La Salle University at the buzzer

The Huskies began the season with back-to-back buzzer-beating wins but tonight found out what it’s like to be on the other end as they fell 66-64 to La Salle University at Matthews Arena.

Catarina Rocha caps career with a second at nationals

On Saturday in San Diego, at her third consecutive Foot Locker Cross Country Championships, the tables turned. Anna Rohrer, a sophomore from Mishawaka, Ind., finished the 5K race in 17:24.8, with Rocha second in 17:29.0.

Peter Roby: “The giant has awoken.”

It has been six years since Athletic Director Peter Roby moved into the glass office across from Solomon Court in the Cabot Physical Education Center. In his tenure, he’s had to make hard decisions about the football program and coaching staffs, but in a sit down with The News on Friday, Roby said he’s never been more excited to be a Husky.
