Becherer was preparing to defend her 2008 Paralympic gold medal in the 50-meter freestyle sprint just three weeks ago. On Sept. 1, she did just that, in an American record time of 27.46 seconds for the gold medal.

Northeastern names Erickson head of cross country, track and field

The Northeastern University’s running and field programs are no longer coachless. Athletic Director Peter Roby announced Tuesday in a press release that Cathrine Grace Erickson will serve as director of track and field, and cross country.

NU cross country and track & field coach Hart retires

Northeastern University Athletic Director Peter Roby announced last week that cross country and champion track and field head coach Sherman Hart has retired, ending a 24-year coaching career with the university. The men’s and women’s track and field teams won 28 conference championships under Hart.
