Fyke Net Project tracks rainbow smelt

Published on Boston.com – April 28, 2011 The Fyke Net Project tracks rainbow smelt spawning and their upstream trek. The last 20 years have seen a declining number of smelt in local areas. In 2004, NOAA deemed rainbow smelt a “species of concern’’ due to the substantial decline in the spawning population.
