This Sunday, dozens of hair salons in the Boston area — including Dedham, Quincy, and Weymouth — will open their doors for styling and cuts to raise money for Children’s Hospital Boston.
Children’s Hospital Trust is partnering with more than 50 salons to hold the second annual HAIRraising Cut-a-Thon fund-raiser benefiting the charity program at the hospital. Salons that are generally closed on Sundays will open, donate their time, and cut and style the hair of anyone who walks in, for a minimum donation of $40.
Celebrity hairstylist John Frieda is behind the initiative to focus the hair-styling world on children and their medical needs. He started HAIRraising in 2010 to support Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, then partnered with Children’s Hospital board member Gail Federici to bring the event to Boston.
Salons are taking appointments for Sunday, in addition to walk-ins.
