Like father, like son: Joe Mantegna Jr. keeps coaching in the family

Joe Mantegna Jr., who graduated from Northampton High in 1987, is entering his 17th season at Blair Academy in Blairstown, New Jersey. He is chasing his 300th career win, sitting at 287-119, and has turned the boys basketball program into one of the country’s top prep programs.

With 0.7 seconds on the clock, South Hadley senior Cam Earle was at the line shooting two. His second free throw iced a 77-73 win for No. 7 South Hadley as Earle’s career-high 45 points ended the No. 2 Rams’ season in the Western Massachusetts Division 2 Tournament quarterfinals.
